
Former India coach Rahul Dravid is set to make his return to the Indian Premier League as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals. Dravid’s tenure as the Indian men’s cricket team head coach recently concluded after the 2024 T20 World Cup.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Dravid has signed a deal with Rajasthan Royals and has already begun discussions on player retentions ahead of the upcoming mega auction.
This marks Dravid’s second stint with the former IPL champions. He previously served as their captain, taking over from the late Shane Warne, and later mentored the team.

Dravid, who was 39 when he became RR’s captain in 2012, led the team in 40 matches, securing 23 victories. Following his captaincy, he served as a mentor for two seasons (2014, 2015) before taking on the role of coach for India’s U-19 and ‘A’ teams.
Under Dravid’s leadership, India clinched the 2018 U-19 World Cup. He then joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as the head of cricket operations before succeeding Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the men’s national team in 2021. His tenure ended on a high note with India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
