His career statistics are impressive, with 6678 runs, including 8 centuries and 28 fifties, and a total of 366 wickets across all formats. His final international appearance was in the T20 World Cup semi-final against India in Guyana.

Rahul Dravid Joins Rajasthan Royals as Head Coach: The Legend Returns

Rahul Dravid is making a comeback to Rajasthan Royals, this time as the team’s Head Coach. Dravid, who previously played for the Royals from 2011 to 2013, and later served as a mentor from 2014 to 2015, is returning to the franchise after a nine-year hiatus.

Dravid’s journey with Rajasthan Royals began as a player, where he showcased his cricketing prowess and leadership skills. His tenure as a mentor further solidified his bond with the team. Now, as Head Coach, Dravid is set to bring his extensive experience and strategic acumen to guide the Royals in the upcoming IPL seasons.

This return marks a new chapter in Dravid’s association with the Royals, where his expertise and insights are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s performance and future success.

Shakib Al Hasan Signs with Surrey for Crucial County Championship Clash

Surrey have secured the services of Bangladesh’s star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, for their pivotal County Championship match against Somerset. The 37-year-old, renowned as one of Bangladesh’s greatest cricketing talents, will join Surrey for this crucial top-of-the-table encounter starting on Monday.

Surrey is facing a challenging period with eight players unavailable due to England commitments, including Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith, Dan Lawrence, and Gus Atkinson, who are all on Test duty. Additionally, Surrey will compete against Somerset in the T20 Blast semi-finals at Edgbaston on Saturday.

Alec Stewart, Surrey’s Director of Cricket, expressed enthusiasm about the signing: “When the opportunity to bring a player of the quality of Shakib to the club came along, it was an easy decision to make.” Shakib’s inclusion is expected to significantly bolster Surrey’s squad during this busy period.

Andrew Flintoff Appointed as England Lions Coach: A New Chapter in His Coaching Journey

Andrew Flintoff continues to make strides in the coaching world with his recent appointment as the new head coach of the England Lions. Flintoff, a former England international with 79 Test matches to his name, will assume his new role in October.

Flintoff’s tenure will begin with the Lions’ tour to South Africa before Christmas, followed by a red-ball tour to Australia in January. This tour is seen as a critical preparation phase for the 2025-26 Ashes series. Additionally, the Lions will host India A and Zimbabwe next summer.

In his role, Flintoff will be responsible for performance planning, player development reviews with counties, team selection, and player appraisals. He will also balance this role with his existing position as head coach of Northern Superchargers in the Men’s Hundred.

This role marks Flintoff’s most significant challenge since his return to cricket in 2023, following a serious car accident while filming for Top Gear in December 2022. Flintoff candidly shared his recovery journey in the BBC documentary Field of Dreams, reflecting on this challenging period in his life.

Mark Wood to Miss England’s Tours Due to Elbow Injury

Mark Wood will miss England’s upcoming tours of Pakistan and New Zealand, as he has been sidelined for the rest of the year due to a bone-stress injury in his right elbow. The 34-year-old pacer, who had been experiencing increasing stiffness and discomfort in his elbow during England’s recent Test series against the West Indies, also suffered a right thigh injury in the first Test against Sri Lanka.

Mark Wood has been ruled-out of actions for the rest of 2024 due to injury

According to an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) release, Wood’s elbow injury was discovered during what he initially thought was a routine scan. The ECB noted that while Wood is recovering well from his thigh injury, the elbow issue will keep him out of action for the remainder of the year.

In a candid Instagram post, Wood shared his surprise at the severity of the elbow injury. “During what I thought was a routine check on a previously troublesome elbow, I was shocked to learn I’ve got some bone stress in my right elbow,” he said. He added that the elbow irritation, which he had initially attributed to the usual fast bowler’s niggles, was more serious than anticipated.
